NEW TRENDS IN MARKET DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE: AN ANALYSIS OF IOSCO PRINCIPLES

Santiago, Chile, October 22 - 24, 2008

In October 2008, Santiago de Chile will host the second annual workshop of COSRA/IARC.

Piggy-backing on the unique opportunity provided by the visit of the different pan-American regulatory bodies, the event will kick off with a conference open to the public.

The seminar entitled, “New Trends In Market Development and Infrastructure: An Analysis of IOSCO Principles”, will focus primarily on the following two topics:

Desmutualization: Regulatory Challenges
Market Integration: Challenges to Competition

The second day will consist in work groups comprised of the members of COSRA/IARC only, and will focus on the updating each other on the different areas of work being done by its respective members as well as proposals as to how to launch COSRA/IARC toward the future.

Finally, the last day will conclude with the workshop “MMOU: Practical and Operational Aspects of Procedures to Apply” which aims at clearing the technical aspects necessary to reach a multi-lateral agreement amongst the different bodies that comprise COSRA/IARC.
